These terms cover the AIRlert LIVE service and app. Buying equipment from our shop is covered separately by our shop terms and conditions.
What AIRlert LIVE is
AIRlert LIVE is a community communication and coordination service. It connects a group of people, family, friends, neighbours and community members, around one person who has asked for their help with day to day care, and it brings alerts and messages from a number of different platforms together onto one shared message board, the Community Care Loop.
It exists so that a group can see what is happening, talk to each other about it, and decide together who does what. It is a social and organisational tool for people who are already providing care.
What AIRlert LIVE is not
AIRlert LIVE is not an emergency service. It is not a life saving system. It is not a monitored alarm service, and it is not a replacement or a fallback for professional telecare, a monitored personal alarm, a warden call system, or the emergency services.
If someone needs urgent help, call the emergency services. If someone relies on a monitored alarm or professional telecare, keep it. AIRlert LIVE is designed to run alongside those things, never instead of them.
Beta
The service is in beta. Features will change, and interruptions, faults and periods of unavailability should be expected while it develops.
Our infrastructure, openly stated
We would rather tell you where we are than imply more than we have.
The AIRlert LIVE portal currently runs on a single server. That means there is no failover: if that server goes down, or its hosting or connection goes down, the portal and the message board are unavailable until it is back. There is at present no second site to take over automatically.
A great deal of effort has gone into making what we do run as reliably as it can, and we monitor it, but we cannot take responsibility for the periods when the system is down.
We are committed to improving this. Building in fallback and redundancy so that uptime keeps rising is a priority for the platform, alongside widening the range of services and devices the portal can integrate and connect with. As that work lands this section will be updated to describe what is actually in place, and we will say so plainly rather than quietly.
Modular by design, and what that follows from
AIRlert sensors and devices are designed to be modular and to integrate with each other, in the same way that the outbound platforms are connectable. That is the point of the system: pieces can be added, swapped and combined so that a supportive group can form around a person in their own community, in whatever shape suits them.
The same quality has a consequence that has to be stated plainly. A system made of many independent parts working together is, by its nature, complex, and any one of those parts can fail: a sensor, a battery, a hub, a home network, a mobile network, a messaging platform, a phone. A loosely connected supportive system of this kind should always be tested, regularly and by the people relying on it, and should only ever be used to assist in giving care. It is not an emergency response system and it is not life saving.
Reliability of communications
AIRlert LIVE connects to and relays messages between third party platforms: messaging services, mobile networks, SMS and voice providers, push notification services, paging networks, internet providers and the devices in a person's home. We do not own or control those platforms and we cannot guarantee that a message sent through any of them will arrive, arrive intact, or arrive in time.
Alerts and messages may be delayed, duplicated, reordered or lost entirely, for reasons including loss of power, loss of internet or mobile signal, device failure, low battery, a third party platform being unavailable, or an account running out of credit.
You accept that the service is provided on that basis, and that Frequency Precision Ltd does not accept responsibility for the reliability, continuity or timeliness of communications carried through it, or for any decision taken or not taken on the basis of what the service did or did not show.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Credit, not subscription
AIRlert LIVE is not a subscription service. There is no recurring charge and no contract term. The account is free to hold, whether or not you have bought an AIRlert HUB gateway or sensors from us.
Charges apply only when you choose to add credit. Credit pays for the onward delivery costs of connecting your Community Care Loop together: messages and alerts carried over third party platforms, such as SMS, voice calls and paging, together with the running of the AIRlert LIVE message board. Credit is drawn down as those messages are sent.
If credit runs out, onward delivery over those paid channels stops. This is another reason the service must not be depended on for anything urgent.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that the person being supported knows about and agrees to their family, friends or community seeing alerts and messages about them through the service, or that you have the legal authority to agree on their behalf. Everyone in the Community Care Loop should understand what the group can see.
Changes to these terms
Material changes will be published here with a new version number, and you will be asked to read and accept them again before continuing to use the service.
Registration sign off
These are the statements every account holder ticks, separately, before using the service.
- What the service is for. I understand that AIRlert LIVE is a community support and communication service in beta, for connecting family, friends and community together to help care for someone, and that it runs alongside other care rather than replacing it.
- Not an emergency service. I understand that AIRlert LIVE is NOT an emergency service and NOT a life saving system. It must not be used as a monitored alarm, as professional telecare, or as a fallback for either. In an emergency I will contact the emergency services.
- Reliability. I understand that AIRlert LIVE relays messages through third party platforms and networks that Frequency Precision Ltd does not control, that alerts and messages may be delayed or may not arrive at all, that the portal currently runs on a single server with no automatic failover so the service can be unavailable during an outage, that the system is made of many independent parts any of which can fail, that I should test it regularly, and that Frequency Precision Ltd does not accept responsibility for the reliability or continuity of those communications.
- Credit, not subscription. I understand that AIRlert LIVE is not a subscription. Charges apply only when I choose to add credit, which pays for sending alerts and messages over third party platforms, and that delivery over those channels stops when credit runs out.
By creating an account you agree to these terms of use and to the AIRlert LIVE privacy policy.
